Sighisoara

THE BIRTHPLACE OF DRACULA

Sighisoara

Sighisoara (Schässburg to the Saxons) is not a big town, and the key sites within the city walls can be viewed within a few hours. It really is a town of ‘gingerbread’ houses straight out of the pages of a fairy-tale, one of the best preserved medieval citadels in Europe, with a magical mix of winding cobbled alleys, steep stairways, secluded squares, towers and turrets.

We stay two nights in an historic boutique hotel in the heart of the old citadel. We have also scheduled some free time here to just stroll around or sit in cafes and soak up the atmosphere. Evenings in Sighisoara especially have an interesting ambiance.
